LEARN ABOUT: Bearded Dragon, Australia
(Pogona vitticeps)
Bearded Dragons are lizards
that eat insects and spiders, small rodents and other lizards, but survive
mostly on vegetation, leaves, fruits and flowers and will grow to be 2 feet
long. They live for as many as 10-15 years in Australia's deserts and
woodlands.
When Bearded Dragons
are threatened or aroused they will expand and darken a pouch below their jaws
resembling a beard, lending the animal their name. They are friendly.
